muzzleloader question-- new to forum

THis is my first post here, but I would like to say I have read many posts as a guest and you guys are great people.

My question is about my new NEF Heritage(SS sidekick) muzzleloader. Does anyone know if H&R will fit a rifle barrel to a muzzleloader reciever ?

Welcome Jon! No, they won't, rifle barrels will only be fitted to SB2 rifle frames, the Sidekick is a dedicated muzzleloader, can't be fitted with any barrels.

Thanks a lot Tim. If I had known this before I purchased it this year, I would have bought a Handi Rifle instead and had the ML barrel fitted to it. Oh well, live and learn.

That's a pretty impressive collection there, Tim.  I have another question, I've read about some guys getting really good groups out of their NEF ML's. I haven't had very good luck out of mine, yet(I'm goin to shoot it with the forearm off and see if it will get better groups first)can anyone offer some suggestions on loads and bullets to use? Right now I'm using TC superglide shockwaves. I started out shooting them with Bore Butter, but found that I get much better consistency if I shoot without it. I also dropped the powder charge from 100 grs. 777 to 70grs. and got some improvement. I'm still in the 2-3 inch group range at 50, which is OK where I hunt, but I would like to get it a little better.

Welcome to the forum! There is a lot of good help available here.

my Sidekick is about 2" at 75yds using Powerbelts 295 and two pellets. I probably could get better if I worked at it but at the distances I am shooting for deer that is about right! A number of guys say that two pellets shoot better than three with less recoil too!

You could easily sell the sidekick here and buy a Handirifle too. I did the same as you did a couple of years ago, bought the ML first then realized I should have gone with a Handirifle first. Now I have both, and a shotgun too.

Mine seems to perform very well with almost any 300grain bullet and 90-100 grains of powder.
