SKS NVA bringback
« on: January 01, 2008, 07:14:24 AM »
I have this SKS made in North Vietnam that was a "bringback" war trophy with papers.  I would like to get a sense of what this is worth to a collector.  Thanks

I've only seen one other gun with the documentation that you have at a gun show in Charlotte, NC.  It was in much better shape though, no pitting and the stock had only slight dings.  The piece you have most assuradly saw action as to its condition.   It's all matching from what I can tell so that is a plus.  The condition could be better but most of these saw action of some sort in the hot humid climate of Vietnam. Can't say I would want to own it for obvious reasons but someone may want it to complete a collection. The one I saw was $650 but I never hung around to see if it was sold.  I do know it was not there the second day of the show.  The gun you have would have more collecters value than functional value.  That is something hard to put a price on.    What others are willing to pay is always unpredictable.  I'd start out with $600 and see if anyone bites.

vinconco:  I could easily go with what the 30-30man said and his estimate of the price may be in the ballpark.  I have one I brought back myself, minus the paperwork as we regularly shipped footlockers full of stuff back to Ft. Bragg.

I did not bring mine back for nostalgic reasons, I brought it back to have a functional, reliable and hard hitting semi-auto rifle.  However, I found that mine had chamber pits and wouldn't function reliably with anything but steel cased ammo - which I have a lot of...............

The paperwork adds significantly to the collector value and there are lots of guys who would pay the estimated price to put one of those things on their wall.  HTH.  Mikey.
