By t/c I assume you're referring to the T/C Contender.  The Encore, Contender and G2 are all made by Thompson Center Arms.

The Contender and G2 (whenever it comes out) are made to hadle lower pressure rounds like your typical pistol calbers, 41 44 Mag and can handle 30/30, 35 Remington, 7-30 Waters rounds also.

The Encore can handle rounds like the 308 and 30/06.  You should be able to get plenty of information from www.tcarms.com

30x47, i like both contender and encore. the contender was discontinued a while back. the G2 is hopefully the replacement. it has been announced but not available yet.
In the encore i use a 13" custom vvcg 6mmbr and factory 15" 7-08. both work excellent.
havn't took a deer yet with my contender but the super 14 6mmtcu would work with appropriate bullets. such as the single shot pistol bullets by hornady and sierra. i used the 80gr sierra sspb in the 6br successfully. a sierra bullet technician also stated the 80gr blitz boattail should work perfectly in the 6tcu on deer.
do you shoot a 30x47 or is it just a name? i would like to hear about it if you do. i had a bullberry 15" 6x47 contender at one time.

i don't know anything about gunsmithing and headspacing threaded barrels.
changing barrels on encore's and contender's is simple and anyone can do it in just a couple minutes. all you do is remove the forearms two screws, break down the action(like you were going to load or unload) and gently tap out a round hingepin. the barrel comes of and goes back on the same way. very simple.
now if you are wanting to make barrels for the encore, it is very complicated and would require welding a lug on the bottom of a blank. which would be a higly specialized task, and require a custom shop that does that sort of thing. two that come to mind are virgin valley custom guns(www.virginvalleyguns.com) and bullberry barrel works(www.bullberry.com)
