barrell question

Would a 24" standard encore heavy tapered barrel be limited in accuracy versus a 26" or 28".  I average 200 to 300 yard shots.  My prohunter 28" barrell is super accurate at that range, but looking for a additional barrell that would be more compact.  Thanks

A shorter barrel if made correctly should be just as accurate as a longer one.  Going from 28 inches to 24 inches will probably lose you about 25 fps per inch but it should still be OK for 300 yard shots of it's a fairly flat shooting cartridge.

   One of the most accurate factory barrels I have owned was a 24" tapper   7MM-08 barrel.     Another thing to think about when bench shooting or prctice is the thinner barrels heat up quicker and heat sometimes detroys accuracy. So in these situations you may need more cool down time.

 ;D Most of mine are 20 inchers shorter & stiffer my last one was a custom 357 Max that shootes one ragged hole @ 100 opens up a little at 150 with handloads. I had a 223rem 20inch barrel that shot under a 1/2 inch at 200 on a good day with hand loads wish I had not sold that one
