model 10 fp
« on: November 24, 2007, 04:26:53 PM »
I have a heavy 20 inch barreled .308 and it shots like crap 2.5/3.0 at 100 yards. I tried bedding the stock changing the scope all different kinds of ammo cleaning the barrel (lots of copper real rough) but to no avail .I'm ready to dump the gun ,has any body else had these issues?

I've done a fair amount of reading on that exact rifle.  You're the only guy I've read about having problems with it, sorry about your luck.  I'd take it to a gunsmith before you dumped it off and at least have him check it out for you.

I have both the 20" and 24" 308 10FPs. No problems like that. I had to put more  weight on the accutrigger on one because it was setting off too soon.

277284,
What kind of groups do you get from your 20"?

With Federal Gold Medal match 168gr I get .75 inch (three shot) groups. These 308 10FPs are just standard Savages with heavy barrels.
