Be careful over there and Have a Merry Christmas, as best you can, we are all thinking about you guys and gals over there. We love you and appreciate everything you do.

Now, on to the thing about being surrounded by Texas....I 'm sure that was a compliment, but sounds like you've never been to the sweeping grassland Plains of the Panhandle, the majestic piney woods, lakes and swamps of East Texas, the gorgeously green hills of Central Texas often filled full pf Bluebonnets, the kraggy wilderness of the Big Bend- Rio Grand area, or the lucious Orange Groves of the south Texas agri lands, the 700 miles of  sandy beaches and intriguing lagoons of the Texas Laguna Madre and Padre Island seashore, and yes the desolute stretches of semi arid lands west of San Antonio, all the way to El Paso. Can you tell I'm a native born Texan?  Come back to us so you can visit there in March and April and see the Bluebonnets and the nicest people you'll ever meet.

hey brother,

I feel for you man. I was there from may 05 till may 06 also. Spent time at Taji and Al Asad. Infantry baby, did something like 180 days out on missions, maybe more I forget. We were on Tampa and then over on Dover near Hussienia. We stopped at the gates of Bagdad and over near Sadar City. Figure I'll get a call to go again soon enough also. I miss the food and the gyms, but not the heat and the dust. Have the rains started yet? We got flooded out while at Al Asad! In the middle of the desert, what a place. how is the IED sit over there now? It was ours biggest threat then. They were lousy at emplacing them lucky for us. My 1114 got hit more than once to say the least. Hey if you need something, drop me a line. I mean that. Magazines, food whatever. When we where there the PX never had crap, so let me know.

So Merry freagin Chistmass brother, watch your six. And the side of the road.

IEDs are really not all that bad the big things here where i'm at (FOB Q west about 60-70k south of Mosul) are VBIEDs and a sniper here and there, and small arms is always here and there. so far none of the guys in my troop have hit a IED yet, we have found a few but luckly before they went off. i roll in a 1151 most of the time but every once in a while my crew goes out in a brad but either way i'm not to afraid of getting killed by a IED , if its my time to go its my tome to go . i just started my family and i don't think the god's in a hurry to take me from them just yet.

as for stuff that i need , i have a great wife that sends me stuff all the time, but if anybody wanted to send random stuff to help time pass ie; Magazines, Books, games whatever you think of i'll gladly take it and share it with the guys in my plt . time goes by real so when we are in the fob.

the only thing i really need is M-14 mags that arn't as crapy as this s#!t the army wants me to work with, our supply sgt i the dumbest guy i've ever met and wont give out anything unless God himself comes down and tells him to, but hey thats the army for you

Merry Christmas everybody
curiosity killed the cat , but i was lead suspect for a while
