Sako 75 & TRG safety problem
« on: September 03, 2003, 05:12:24 PM »
I purchased a sako 75, in 300 Rum. and have fired it aprox. 120 rds. Twice the firing pin dropped slightly when i squessed the trigger on the safe position, when i took it off SAFE to FIRE and squessed, nothing happened. The primer was marked . Put same bullet back in gun and it fired.  I was kind of curious as to what had happened, but was thinking it may have been me. Well what a surprise, i go on Acc. Reload and some one has posted about the problem. Apperently it is in 20% of 75's and TRG. rifle.  Just a head's up on these fine rifle's.(OR I THOUGHT THEY WERE FINE)   Rick.

Hey swamp dogger.  I have a Sako 30-06 that I belive is a TRG.  I haven't had this problem.  Is it something that a gunsmith could take care of.

Triggers are just one of those things everyone seems to need to improve on.  No telling whether or not that trigger had been messed with.  By all means, if yours won't pass the 3 foot drop test when fully cocked, I'd get it into a qualified smith to rectify.  I believe Remington has the whole procedure spelled out on their web site for their 700's if you want to find out how to  throughly test the action and safety.
