If you're looking for a hunting air rifle then no matter what the make go with the larger .22 caliber. More surface area to the pellet thus more striking force. As for the GS1000, I know a fellow club member that has one and he likes it a lot. Does everything he wants it to do. If Beeman offered the GS1000 in a .25 caliber then, just for hunting, I would go with the .25 caliber. My son shoots a .25 and that caliber really knocks brush bunny's(3 - 7 pounds live weight) down.
