Just bought a kit.....what next

I just bought the Lee 50th Anniversary Kit (with the Breech Lock Challenger Press) and the LEE 2nd edition MODERN RELOADING book.
I am really new and just starting out.
I think my next purchase is going to be a set of Reading .270 dies.
What other book should I get.......I heard at least have 2
What other little extras do I need to order?

*I have to go get my little girl from school, but I will be back in about an hour or 2 to order some more stuff. Thanks guys!

Case length gage so you can trim your brass.
You need one for each caliber.
They are like $4 though.

No the cutter and lock stud are only half of it and came in my kit.

Oh, ok.....Case Preparation Tools include a cutter and lock stud to trim your cases included in kit. I just need to get the Case Length Gauge from Lee.

One suggestion on the cutter, get the ball handle cutter, lots easier on your hand, specially when you put the power to the lock stud!! ;)

id skip the case lenght guages and just buy a good set of calipers. Youll use them for many other things in the future. As to loading manuals there all pretty good. what id do is pick a brand of bullets you want to use and buy that companys manual to start with. I dont know what your kit came with but if it didnt have a lee hand primer id pick up one of them and a set of shell holders for it. A can of 4350 and a pack of primers and you should be set to load.

Ok, I will get the ball handle cutter.
I will change out the case length guages for for a set of calipers.
Any suggestion on brand of bullets? I would like to try those 90 grain speers for varmints. Any suggestions?
Is 4350 a good starting powder (remember I am new)

The kit says this about primers:
You get the Large and small Safety Prime. Prime with push button convenience and is safe with all brands of primers. Never touch the primer from box to the case.

The Lee case length gauges aren't for measuring cases, they're for trimming to minimum trim length, they're caliber specific and you'll need one for each chambering you load for to use the ball handle cutter, so put that back on your list along with the caliper, it will be needed to measure overall cartridge length and numerous other little tasks. ;)

Any preference on powder/bullets/primers for the .270 anybody? I shoot an Encore if that matters.....
If not I guess I will be ordering the 4350 first.
I would like to load the 90 grains for varmints and the 130's for deer. Is it possible for both to group well or do most rifles prefer one grain over another because of the twist rate............Sorry if these are dumb questions, but I am just trying to learn all I can.

You may want to buy primers and powder locally.  If you order them you will have to pay hazmat shipping cost.
