scratched brass
« on: December 30, 2007, 05:57:34 AM »
I am still waiting to mount my scope so I have been cycling a few rounds through the action of my new .243 ADL.  I notice the brass is being scratched (deep enough to catch your fingernail) as it enters the chamber.

A single round is OK,  so it must be as it enters. Can't feel a burr.  The brass is scratched from about 1/2" down from the neck to the end. There is a 1/8' offset in the rifle as it enters the chamber and it's a pretty sharp angle, so that is where I believe it to be.

So should I take some 400 grit paper and work it out?

If I shot factory loads I don't see it as a problem, but I reload and several scratches my be an issue.

 Thanks in advance, TVC15
