Recoil pad removal....

Am I correct by thinking that you just stick a phillips screwdriver thru the small pin holes in the back of the pad. I tried to find something in the FAQ's but didnt see anything. So I had to ask because I really dont want to strip the screws out and not be able to get the thing off. Thanks in advance for the info

Phillips screwdriver into the small holes and unscrew them.

HAHAHAHHAHAHA OHHHHHH NO !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quick you can put this one in the most stupid questions thread HAHAHA I was meaning to ask that in the remington forum for an 1962 Rem 700 it has small pin holes not CRATERS like NEF. WOW I am sure that seemed like a really dumb question as easy as it is to see the screws on a Handi .... Thank you all for not really railing me for that one. Spanky I would have loved to seen the face when you had to type that in. LOL

When you do that, put a little oil on th screw driver so you wont chew up the pad.

I use paraffin or beeswax on the screwdriver shaft, some oils might damage the pad.

Must have taken off and on hundreds of recoil pads, never damaged one yet with a little bit of oil. You only wipe it on very thin on the bit.

More importent is not to use too big a bit in diameter.

My grand dad learned me that oil and rubber products aren't a good combination, it'll only take one that it ruins to break that old habit!! Limbsaver and KickEez recommend Armor All or water, Pachmayr doesn't mention it.

How about tipping your screwdriver in honey. When done you can lick it off
for a carbohydrate treat. Now that would not hurt a pad

That would be a bit sticky and attract all kinds of critters, but it would be better than not using anything for the butt pad.
