H & R Top Break--Help!!
« on: December 04, 2007, 05:10:40 AM »
Hey guys,

I have a Top break open 5 shot 32 caliber Harrington and Richardson hammerless revolver which was my grandfathers. I believe the barrel is 3 1/2 ". It does not have any model on it and on the rib it just says the following:

Harrington & Richardson Arms Company
Worchester, Mass. USA Pat. Oct 4 67 Apr 2, 95 Apr 7, 96(It's either 96 or 98-I can't quite tell)

Also, at the top of the grips it has a target with 5 shots on it. I need to replace a lot of internal items in it. Does anyone have schematics for this pistol or assembly/disassembly instructions? Numerich gun parts has not yet given me any schematics and they say I need to know what model it is. I think it is the new model or old model hammerless.

I believe it is an "old model small frame model".

Thanks,

Bob

I believe you may be able to find schematic and parts both at gunpartscorp.com.  I would check but I can not access anything with the word 'gun' in it from work.  (silly filters)  But I think you can find what you need there.  44 Man

Then use firearms insted of gun. I don't know if H&R would have any though

I went through what you are starting now with a friend's gun. We found parts on Numrich to replace warn/broken parts and got it into shape.

Here is a place to start: http://www.e-gunparts.com/model.asp?idDept=101

You need to go through the list and try to identify your gun. One big help is the internal hammer. Most of H&Rs guns have external hammers. Here is what I quickly identified as a possibility, the New Model Hammerless:
http://www.e-gunparts.com/products.asp?chrMasterModel=1560zNEW%20MODEL%20HAMMERLESS&MC=

To be sure, you would have to buy for $1.50 a pdf file with an illustrated parts break down and a parts list. # PDF0111

Good luck. Those pins that hold the trigger guard make the gun a bit of a pain to work on. You almost need 3 hands to reassemble it.

Minnesota:  if you can send me photos of your worn or broken part setting on a pc of graph paper ( for size reference) I can look for the parts in my stuff. I have a large quantity of IJ, H&R, S&W and H&A revolver parts on hand.

I think Marlin owned H&R until just recently? You might check with them also.

I have a H&R .32 hammerless which looks just like yours but in lots better shape.

I guess that wasn't too helpful....
