Round balls and no balls
« on: December 29, 2007, 02:40:01 PM »
My T/C Hawken( with  a GM ball barrel) a .495 Speer ball .018 ticking patch lubed with bore butter over 70gr of Swiss 3f, gave me my first flintlock/roundball kill.It was a wierdly piebald button buck and here's the wierd part , he had no testicles! No sack either! Almost no white on him anywhere except his tail and a 6 inch wide stripe down his belly. No throat patch no ring around the eyes either. His buttons were about the size of a pea.His hoofs are 1/2 black and white with white dewclaws. Unfortunately no pictures...Sorry... After waiting 10 minutes for it to make a broadside ( never did) I wound up making a 115 yard neck shot. Bang flop( love those ). Good by breechloaders, I'm using my Omega and Hawken from now on.   ;D

That is some good shooting, a 115 yard neck shot!

Good thing you took that mutant out of the woods, but, sounds like he wouldn't have been doing much breeding, anyway.
Any nuclear power plants near you?
Aim small don't miss.

Good point!Hadn't considered that :D I'm alittle east of the line between Berwick and Three Mile Island...At first I felt bad about boppin' him but he most likely never would have grown a legal rack and as a no breeder he'd have just been an eatin' machine.Regarding the neck shot, don't think I'll try that one again.Best to go out untied/undefeated!So to speak...
