I buy my powder at Bi-Mart but I know you don't have a Bi-Mart, it's kind of a Northwest Thing...right Tim?

Right on, every time they have their $2 off sale on powder, I hit em!! I keep a list of any powder I'm gettin low on in my wallet so I know what I need or might need!! :D ;)

Tim
Bimart for myself also. (Except I don't have to pay the sales tax). ;D
Have lights? Thank a Lineman!

I am not sure of the selection of powder that Gander Mountain carries.  I only one time bought a pound of Unique from them and it was $20 a pound.  I have a store nearby that specializes in shotgun reloading and they carry alot of powder.  At the time I purchased from Gander I could get a pound of Unique at this shop for $14 so needless to say I buy all of my powder there now.  One thing I will say is that a about a week ago I was at Gander and overheard a guy trying to buy a pound of Reloader 22 and the employee dug through the powder cabinet and could not find any, so maybe they don't carry a large supply of powder, but I am sure they would at least have one suitable powder for your 243.

It is not that they don't carry Reloader powder, they were just sold out of Reloader 22.

I live down here in central florida ,Hard to find any place to purchase powder. I usually go to a small gun shop but his prices has went from 20.00 to 38.95 for H-110 and for primers about the same. I use to go to bass pro in ft.myers but they was always out of what i needed.  Any Florida reloaders out there with any good powder hangouts?...................ROGER---sebring fl

I get my powder and primers from Powder Valley in KS, I've been doing business with them for a few years, good people to do business with.  Buying from a company like that you need to be shooting some volume, that can either be one person who loads a lot, or get a few people together to split the order, Powder Valley has a major advantage over Midway and a few others because they will ship powder and primers in the same box and for the same haz mat, buy powder and primers and only pay one haz mat fee.
I do not own a reloading manual as of yet. Thanks for the info guy's. Dale
Dale, please before you do anything else get a manual or 2.  I started with Lyman and I highly recommend it ( I also like and have  hornady, Sierra, and Speer). It has a lot of useful information on the reloading process read that until you understand the procedure.   A lot of your questions will be answered here as well as giving you load data to work with .... never use someones load from here or anywhere else on the net without looking it up on your book to make sure that it's a safe load and doesn't contain a typo  even then you should back off from that and work up from there.

That is the thing with the smaller shops.  They usually have to place orders and pay Hazmat so they only order when they can make it feasible money wise.  I just bought my 1st larger qty of powders this fall.  8 lbs of H4831 and 5 of Reloader 15.  You do save a significant amount of $$$ buying bulk but you have to come up with the money to do it.  Like some have said if you can get together with someone else that reloads or wants to start that is probably the way to go.

Dale, I've been reloading for 5 years now and started out like you.  Did not know anyone who reloaded (or if they did in the past they no longer did and didnt really care to set up again etc...) So I bought a couple of reloading books and started reading.  Asked lots of questions on line and searched everything I could find on the net.  It takes very little time and you can be loading very high quality cartridges that will give you excellent accuracy and performance.  I had several calibers I was going to start with so I would just do a search on "reloading for 243" etc...you can spend hours reading on the net.

Good luck,

Yes I have been doing a lot of reading. I have managed to come up with a couple reloading manuals from a member that was nice enough to give them to me. They still don't list any info on the 58 Hornady Vmax bullets I would like to use though. As a matter of fact they list nothing for any 243 bullet less than 70 grains. Dale

Tim thanks that is very helpful. They sure have the bullets I would like to use covered. Do any other powder companies have such a site on line besides them. Thanks Dale

Accurate has online data...

http://www.accuratepowder.com/loaddata_caliber.htm

As well as online loading info and they offer hard copies for free...

http://www.accuratepowder.com/reloading.htm

As does Alliant...

http://alliantpowder.com/reloaders/Index.htm

You can also order a bunch of free handbooks from Hodgdon/IMR/Winchester.

http://www.hodgdon.com/Order/Order.php?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=HP&Product_Code=IDATA

And you can pick up a copy of Hodgdon's Annual 2008 at Walmart for $7 or $8, it has info that the online site doesn't.
