Collecting a few different 1911's.
« on: December 07, 2007, 10:11:23 AM »
I been thinking of getting more 1911's to collect a few different ones. I have 2 SA's,  a norinco and a auto ordnace army so far.  I been thinking of an IRA and a SAM to add to my collection too.  Is there any other affordable 1911's out there that are good pistols too?  I'd like to stay around $400 to $500 if i can. The prices on these are skyrocketing all the time.

There is a local shop here selling the auto ordnance army for $449 since i have one already, if i can't find any others affordable i may grab another AO army model.

BigBill - that's a good price on the Auto Ordinance, ya aughta get it.  I like everyting in my 'collection' to shoot, which is why I don't buy collectibles, those things I wouldn't want to get dirty or scratched or stuff.  Mikey.

BigBill:

May I recommend not getting several cheap guns and instead getting one really good one?  That approach works better for me because I end up using and enjoying the better product because it's trouble free, accurate, reliable, and has good compenentry and cosmetics.

I'm with Questor, go for quality.  However, I'm I big proponent of buying used guns.  There are a whole lot of really great guns out there that somebody bought because they thought they were cool, shot a couple of times and put them away in the safe or the closet.   Yea, you have to be a little careful, but generally, if its a good brand and it looks like its in good condition, you shouldn't have a problem.

On the other hand, I have always wanted a pair of the same brand and model. I have a few 1911's, they all work well from the cheapest to the more pricey models. I have never filled both hands with these beauties and fired them while charging the target (Laura Croft style) just because I do not have a matching set......

The prices on the new auto ordnace's have been slowly going up now maybe the time to get more before they go any higher.  I don't plan on spending more than $500 for a new 1911 or at least i don't want to anyway.

I have found a lot of used 9mm's that looked like new, hardley shot at awesome prices too.  The CZ's are a heck of a great buy.
