PT 1911
« on: May 01, 2007, 02:36:23 PM »
Greetings from a new PT 1911 owner-
Took iit out last weekend and man oh man does this thing shoot!!!!!! Military ammo did very very well and my handloads with 200 g. Lane cast bullets did as well. Lane bullets are wad cutter 200 g. and with 4 g. of bullseye. They shot spot on at 30 yards. I had seen an earlier post about tool marks on the inside of this firearm and I'm here to tell you the inside is as well made as the outside. Some minor tool marks where the mag well was broched but nothing to worry about. I always take apart all new guns i buy to see how things are inside. Not a thing to deburr was found. Beautiful firearm all the way around. Both mags shot the same. Wondering how they made those mags without a seam from welding. Couldn't find a seam at all. Must be extruded and then formed. I have had Remington Rand Military and three new Colt 1911's and except for the Colts being REALLY blued the Colts have nothing on the Taurus at all. All three Colts were pre 71' and my 38 super is 49' and I loved them all but they never made me feel like they were anything special.
Another thing--- When you shake this gun it doesn't rattle hahahaha.
Good on you Taurus!!!!!!!!!!

Seezee,
Just a heads up on the magazines. The Taurus magazines will not lock in on my Kimber Pro Carry. Or a buddy's Springer we tried at a match last week. The McCormic mags I had with me for the Kimber work fine in the Taurus. I'm sure a little file work on the Taurus mags will fix them right up, but at this time they are not usable in the other 1911s I have tried. There are currently other threads active on the  PT1911, check them out, lots of good feedback.

report... the pt 1911 dad bought fed reliably, was accurate, and ejected without a hitch.  the frontstrap checkering was not effective,  but him and i remedied that later.  the heinie sights were o.k.,  but i would have liked the front sight to be tritium dot; then i would say they would have been great.  the mags worked fine, dad had one aftermarket high cap that i knew at a glance wasnt gonna work. the mags that came with the gun worked without a hitch.  the trigger, while not on par with my kimber, wasnt bad.  the grips were hard plastic.  there are plenty of aftermarket options to fix that with minimal effort; if one was inclined.  the ones on it will work.   all and all i would rate the particular gun i shot as solid and reliable.  if i were in the market for a 1911,  i would go for a kimber first,  but the taurus did better than i expected.   if only taurus treated others on g.b.o. better i would suggest it.  for now all i will say is that the particular pistol i shot was a solid gun.  time will tell on the durabiltiy of it, as we will send plenty of rounds through it in the years to come.

:) Worked well. Tested it in Texas and exact accuracy was at 2 inch left and 3 inch low at 25 yards. Agree with Myron Man on the sight picture. We adjusted the sight and for next 24 rounds it shot all in palm of my hand. All in all love it. Note I have small hands and potato fingers. need less to say It has replaced my other house gun now. Only thing need some 45 acp shot shells. Any one can help call me at 330 221 8799 eastern time. Dad Holley

I've had one for about a month.  Shoots great.  Excellent groups on POA at 15 yards.  Took a magazine to get accustomed to the sights.  Fellow sold me two mags and 50 rounds of ammo for $20.  I think both mags came from Springfields.  The GI type (flat bottom sheet metal) takes a little extra effort to seat.  Other than that, both mags shoot fine.  So far a very nice pistol.

My son has had the PT1911 for over a year now. Very nice gun.  For Christmas he got a Kimber .22LR adapter.  It works better than I had ever hoped!  Never a hic-up and he can consistantly ring a 8 inch plate at 50 yards.  The adapter dropped right on the Tarurs in about 30 seconds.  This is a great gun!!!
Thanks from the Frozen Northwoods!!!

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” – John 3:16

That still amazes me…I don’t care who you are or how much I care about you, I would never let you kill my son.  I can’t even begin to understand how much He loves us.
