Price/value Ruger single six/22cal/22mag?
« on: April 04, 2008, 03:28:50 AM »
I may be going to an auction next week and in the catalogue this Ruger single six, in 22 cal with a 22 mag cylinder caught my eye. Looks good like it was well taken care of, blued with plain wooden grips. How can I determine the value for bidding purposes? I have the serial no. is there somewhere I can look that up for date of manufacture? What should I look for when I inspect it for problems?

Thanks.

Joe

Just saw one in my local gun shop. Brand new in stainless steel with a 6.5 barrel and mag conversion cylinder for $452

I just looked up the ser. no. on Rugers site, its a 1970 date of manufacture so its the old style single six standard model.

with this model, even the Om's don't command a very nigh price in most cases.  Up this way there's one shop that always has 10 or more SS and at least a couple are Om's.  All priced in thesame bracket ($235-$350) for the standard models.  They even had a couple decnet shape flat gate models that were tagged at $375.  I passed a 85% OM SS for $235 a couple weeks ago.  If it's got the box and papers of correct vintage, maybe $325 but I'd not go much more than that.
