Talley Scope Mounts
« on: January 06, 2008, 12:40:55 AM »
I just recently purchased a T/C Pro-Hunter and also ordered a Talley base (low). I don't have the scope yet but it doesn't look like there will be enough clearance with this base. Has anyone used these bases before and if so what is this max objective size that can fit in the Talley bases (low, med, and high) and still have clearance between the scope and the barrel? Thanks in advance for any info.

I have try few TAlley to have the good one.
First: The LOW model is too low, blocking the acces to the hammer.
2nd, You need the MED. hight, and you gonna have enought clearance to put a 56mm
3rd, Take the extended base... the standant base put the scope really too far from youre eyes..
Even if you have, like me, a Leupold with a 4inch eye relief..

Sorry
I'm reading my post, and i made a mistake..
I have Both in hand right now, and compare the extended Vs standard...
Now I remember why I've choose The extended.
It's the reverse of what I've wrote.
The Standard, Put the scope right in you're face, And, the rings are jam against the turrets.
The extended, place the scope about 1/2 further on the rifle.
Like i said, i have a Leupold, Long eye relief and my scope is in the most advance position,
To be perfect i need another 1/2..because I'm not in my natural shooting position, I have
to keep my head Standard on the ( rear ) of the stock.
Forgive my English..but i try to explain you in my word the facts..
If You wanna picture, of the Talley, just ask...! and i show you ...

Curiously the extended is The BOTTOM one.

LOW-Standart

MED- Extended:

And to problem of the standart...even with the turrets right on the rings..the scope is right in youre face.

Extended model at the bottom:

Here's a Picture of a Talley, Medium Height, and Standard length model.
As you can see, the height is good, enough clearance to have access to the hammer, and scope too.
BUT the Standard length model put the scope right in Ya face!
Instead you a have 2 inch eye relief scope...this set-up is not good..
And with the rings against the turrets it looks UGLY..

Don't want to hijack but do they make mounts for Contenders as well ?
