Rechambering to 25/06 AI will not improve the groups.  Actually, 1 inch groups with factory ammo isn't that bad.  I doubt a rechamber would be worth it considering your velocity gain would only be in the 50 to 100 fps range.

As the poster above stated.
if you have a bad 25-06 chamber of some type to give you a problem the only
thing that will change per say by changing your chamber to the imp is to move
the shoulder ahead and the angle of it

Well you can gain some velocity over the standard 25-06 but as posted the
gain to what it cost to re chamber is not a real bargain for what you gain.

the 25-06 ackley improved as you now is considered a wild cat cartridge.
if you was to build a custom gun or order a custom encore barrel or what ever
and they start with a 25 caliber barrel blank then it would not cost you any more to
have the new barrel chambered for 257 roberts or 25-06 or the 25-06 ackley improved
this is were most of them come from.
But if money is no problem for you for what you will gain then go for it,It's just that most don't
as I said you don't get much of a gain for the cost.
hope this helps you.Kurt

Keep in mid that you cannot correctly chamber an Encore in  25-06 to 25-06 AI. In a bolt gun, the barrel would be set back to achieve the proper dimensions. You can't do this in the Encore. For the 25-06 AI, you'd want to start with something along the lines of a .257 Roberts, .250 Savage, etc.

A seasoned handloader can deal with the "incorrect" AI dimensions, however, if you are truly bent on going the AI route with the existing 25-06 chamber.

I forgot to add: in the single shots, cartridges such as the AIs are better suited as the have minimal body taper and thus transfer less backthrust to the frame. To boot, the improved cartridges tend to stretch less and thus require less trimming. To me, the velocity gain is a non-issue and pales in comparison to the aforementioned benefits.l

you would have to rechamber to a 257 hawk which is a 25 by 280 rem improved since it is not possible to set the barrel back
