the joy of the hunt
« on: January 19, 2008, 07:07:03 AM »
i was going out to to take out the trash the other night and on the other side of the fence behind the dumpster i saw a coyote eating out of the dumpster behind of a building. i got my coyote stalker and some 45cal. lead ball with a 38cal. steel ball case inside them and got up on the fence and got a stay hold. the range was about 17 yards and i draw back and say " hi' to make it look up. when it did i let it fly and it was still stand and i thought i had miss but it fell down as if lighting had hit it. I jump down and run over to my kill very happy that i did it and i see a coyote off to the left looking like he was ready to fight.  he run when i draw back and was gone and i go look at my kill and i see that the ball took out the hole eye( it was gone) and there was blood coming out of the eye and ears. the ball was just under the skin and i could feel the ball and i hear something moving in the brush. I good look and i see pups( i killed there mother) and now the joy of the kill was gone and i was sad that i killed there mother.  I put them in a box and took them to the animal shelter i volunteer at and let the pelt of one of my old coyote kills( baby animals like the fur of there kind). i am not going to do that again because that was the messes kill i have seen(the first shot killed it but i didn't like all the blood every-were) next time i going to try to kill a male and use my bow.
