rifle requirements

I am new to high power silhouette shooting and was wondering what the requirements of the rifle had to be to enter a competition.

Well, my understanding the basic rules are, for standard High Power Rifle Silhouette, the rifle cannot weigh more than 10 lbs. 2 oz. and has to be 6mm or larger. You can use any sights or optics, with any magnification. The barrel can be no longer than 30 inches.

There are a few more specific rules but that is the basic idea.

As a newcomer to silhouette I was reviewing this section and saw your question.

I am quite certain a single shot rifle is allowed.

As mentioned above, the weight limit for "High Power Silhouette Rifle" is 10 pounds, 2 ounces (including sights). For "High Power HUNTING Silhouette Rifle" it is 9 pounds with a maximum barel length of 26 inches. This per the NRA rulebook.

Good luck.

There is a rifle range next to the shotgun range I attend on occasion in the 210 & 118 frwy area.  They shoot silhouette there.  My suggestion is if your in the area go to a match and ask them some questions.  They love to talk about what they load, shoot, and what sights/ optics they use.  Even if your rifle does not fit they will most likely allow you to shoot.  You just will not be able to win if your gear is not suitable.
Tony Tello runs the rimfire silhouette match there.  I used to shoot against him at a bowling pin match my club pit on years ago.
The shotgun range is More & More.  If you live in the greater LA area I will get more detailed information for you if you can not find the place.
