contender carbine questions

hey guys just have few questions for ya here goes it first off what is the min overall length for a rifle i am thinking 26-28 in ? second where can i find the specific weights for the synthetic stocks and the super 16 BBL and what calibers were they offered in for stainless hoping they offered SS 30-30 and the weight of the action is the G2 heavier than the old contender what are their weights. thanks superdown

OAL must be 26" with a 16" barrel.  Sorry, don't know the weight of synthetic stock and forend, but they are LIGHT.  The S-16 barrel weight varies depending on caliber.  Yes SS 30-30 was offered.    Walt

This is what I can give you
A Contender carbine - original frame, Bullberry carbine walnut stock with 14 1/2" LOP, 16 1/2" full bull barrel, .221 FB will measure 29 3/4" OAL. and weigh in at 6.5 # if you include a scope, strap, ammo carrier w/ammo.

To be honest I would have preferred it a bit longer as it would be easier to steady. Light weight is all fine and well but balance would be my biggest concern.

I don't have with me exact weights but my G2 is only very slightly heavier.

SKB i hear you about the weight and length i am just trying to figure out the lightest and shortest possible combination the reason i want to go with the 30-30 is availability other than 22Lr and 30-06 i am not aware of something more common ? i have an encore for normal hunting and stuff . one more question would it still be legal length with the youth stock and s-16? thanks again superdown

i think the youth stock is only one inch shorter then the adult one? so 16" barrel, 13" stock and the frame may add another inch, so i would think its still o.k. and over 26" long. i just got my stock from Bullberry's, $33.00 shipped real fast! they don't weight much at all!! empty in side. i think a 30-30 would kick the you know what out for your shoulder! iam just going to use mine for rimfire barrels but i may add some metal to the inside for balance of the barrel weight.

tigmaned, i think your right about the kick but i am just looking for something extremely light i hunt an area called alpine lakes wilderness and it's between 4600' and 6000' elevation  in the areas i hunt also it's basicaly hike in only i live at 500" and may want to take a extra bbl in a rimfire cal. the air gets pretty thin for me up their i alway's carry a sidearm and a pack so weight is a big factor for me i hunt black bear and mulies sometimes we also take fishing equipment becuase of all the little lakes and streams . how much do your caribines weigh ? superdown
