Matt says he's only a week or so behind on getting Supporter status to those making them via PayPal so if you're one who gave further back and haven't gotten it you need to contact him and let him know user name and e-mail address used. Some donations don't correspond to any e-mail address on record as a member likely cuz address change wasn't updated.

He is ordering the last four gigs of RAM needed for the servers tonight. I think when it arrives that's the last thing we need. Then he'll get the call tags to ship them to Dallas and get them online so we can begin the move to them.

I just want to thank all those that have donated to the GBO Server Fund. I may keep the roof from leaking but the members are what make it home.

I have a grownig list of folks I cant match with a donation so if you have not gotten credit for your donation pm me with the paypal email of the donation and I will give credit that is due.

Just to give everyone an update on the progress, we have both servers in hand but I have had to reorder memory due to a compatibility issue. The one thing that scares me the most is getting the servers to Dallas and then them breaking. If that happens it will cost from 75 to 125 per hour depending on the problem so I want to be dang sure when I put them in the box all they need is pluging in...

This is my 100th post.  SO I wanted to do something special and donated to the server upgrade.  Thank you all for the help and guidance.  This is the best site on the net.  Mr. GB thanks for all that you have created here.  And also thanks to all the moderators great advice, and thanks Matt for keeping it all up and running.  And Tim is ,... well Tim just amazes me.

Thanks again,

Good news I think, this is the message you'll get on the GBO home page!! ;D www.graybeardoutdoors.com

Tim

We are restoring the GBO Database now. This may take a little time but the server change was completed and all should be well after the data is restored to the server.

Thanks

Matt

Contrary to what you THINK that means it really DOESN'T. Matt has no clue why that message appeared or how even.

We had a glitch develop tonight and Matt reset the server but we're NOT on the new servers YET.

They are in place and after Christmas he will be moving the data base to them. There will be temporary down time while this happens but it will likely be after midnight in the wee hours like he normally does such server work. It will likely take two nights to get all the data moved to the new servers so there will probably be two nights of temporary down time after midnight prior to the switch over to the new servers.

Prolly so.  ;D

We do seem to be having a lot of trouble with the server the database is on right now. I'll sure be glad when we're off it and on the new servers.

My guess is that not later than the coming weekend Matt should be able to make the transfer happen assuming it all goes smoothly and no big problems crop up. Hopefully he will be making a post soon telling us his planned schedule for the change over.

I believe it was done last night.  I got kicked off just as I was logging on.  Glad to see that it was done.

Thanks Matt & GB, it continues to be a great site.

As you say all will help. I've not set down and added up all that folks have donated but it is still far short of what I actually spent out. I borrowed the money to do all the spending we had to do as I just didn't have that kinda cash laying around. At least at last we are now on the new servers and off the older slower ones. Now when the Cable folks finally get around to hooking me up later this quarter or so they have promised I might actually be able to get decent speed when online. But not until I dump this satellite connection.
