9.3x62 250gr TSX load
« on: November 17, 2007, 03:55:14 AM »
Has anyone worked up a 250gr TSX load for a Full Stock CZ 9.3x62.  I am more concerned about accuracy than wringing out the highest Velocity.  Thanks  Buckfever

The latest Handloader magazine lists an accuracy load of 62 grains of RL 15 and an "X" bullet out of a CZ 550/23.6" barrel.  Group size was 0.84" for a 3 shot group and with a velocity of 2,636 f/s

Buck,
I have the same rifle with a Burris 3 x 9.  I have not handloaded for it but have used Norma and Prvi factory loads.  The 250 Gr. TSX sounds like a good bullet for it.  What has your experience been accuracy wise with your rifle?  The Norma 232 GR. Vulkan was ok but not great.  It works but came apart on deer for me.  The Prvi 285 Gr. is better than I can shoot a 100 yds.  1" is common and someone who could really shoot (with young eyes) could shoot 3/4" or less from the bench.  This ammo. performs great on large game also.  I have the stuff to reload but haven't done it with this caliber because I don't think I can do better than the Prvi stuff.  It's cheap enough too.  Thanks,  BT

I shot a 450 lb. bear with it in Canada.  286gr. Privi, and 286gr Nosler Partition.  Both work very well.  The Nosler Partition was with 58 gr, of RL-15.

I have found Ramshot BigGame to be THE powder in my 550 American 9.3x62.  Top velocities and outstanding accuracy.  If you can't find BigGame R-15 is a very popular powder for the 9.3x62.
