Greetings from the Motel 8 in Miller, South Dakota. A late season warm snap caused us to run up here for the last weekend of the South Dakota pheasant season. The birds are bunched up, but have held reasonably well. Considering the season ends tomorrow, we've seen good numbers of birds. The snow and lack of wind has helped the dogs a great deal. These are wild birds. Our group of 4 hunted hard all day and finished with a full limit.
This was the wife's first pheasant hunt. She's dove, duck, goose, and turkey hunted, but never pheasant hunted. She enjoyed the hunt, and shot very well.
It's all over tomorrow, so we'll try to end it on a high note.
