I got mine at Gander Mountain N.I.B. for $139.00.  I shoot cast bullet reloads in mine and it cuts one jagged hole at 50 yds.

As for as a handi in this caliber, it's a no go, as they discontinued them.  You may be able to find one if your lucky, but the barrels are not in production.

I must have gotten lucky with the .308 and 7.62x39 I have because they are good shooters.

Good luck.

Hi All

Bear in mind these do not tend to shoot Wolf ammo reliably do to the hard primers

Mine will shoot Wolf pretty good, but I mostly shoot reloads. I also use Wolf primers and they go bang every time in the 7.62x39 reloads that I use.  I think it is more of an issue with excessive headspace in both the NEF and Rossi in the 7.62x39 that is causing mosty of the problems.  This can be overcome by seating the bullet out a bit further, or  just neck sizing the reloads.

I came to this conclusion after removing the barrel and inserting a loaded shell into the chamber. Then I pushed the shells that did not go off, (which were not many), in as far as they would go, and they went in probably a .010 of an inch.. worst case.  This would make the cartridge go almost out of the range of the firing pin.

Just my observations for what they're  worth. Good luck.

just got one at Gander mt for 129$. polished the trigger and sear on it last night. as far as the accuracy goes you can't expect these rifle to do what a bolt gun will do. these are 100$ gun so if you buy it for what it is and just enjoy it. So far i really like my little rossi 7.62. fun to shoot!
