Savage Custom Shop
« on: January 16, 2008, 06:11:39 PM »
I  finished reading the 2008 catalog and on the back of the catalog, it mentions the Custom Shop and how they can make a custom rifle out of existing parts.  Here is my question:

Take the Model 9317 Classic rifle with the Walnut  stock, That rifle is not offered in Left Hand, But the 93GL with the plain wood stock is offered in Left Hand.  Can the Walnut  stock on the 9317 Classic rifle be switched to the 93GL  rifle and the stock then fitted for left hand use?

The only way would be if Savage can take a 9317 stock blank and run it through their left hand stock duplicator. The bolt cutout would already be cut into a finished stock and the stock is cut a little lower at the ejector port. I am not sure Savage is willing to do that "from existing" parts. I am not sure Savage makes their own stocks. They may purchase them from a 3rd party. You maybe able to buy just an action/barrel assembly and add your own 3rd party stock. You will have to call them to find out for sure what they will and will not do.
