Ordnance Department Documents
« on: January 19, 2008, 01:35:01 AM »
There's stuff I've never even heard of on this list of documents.  You can read about this topic for decades and still find something like this, to show you how much is still "out there" to be explored.

That's a pretty interesting index of documents.  Most are post 1899, I wonder if such a list exist for pre 1899 guns?

I did a search on one of the documents listed and came across another list with more detail and some various studies. also some web addresses at the bottom.

After that I followed the key root of the address back to the The Coast Defense Study Group, Inc. which is an interesting site in itself.

Mr president I do not cling to either my gun or my Bible.... my gun is holstered on my side so I may carry my Bible and quote from it!

Smokin' my pipe on the mountings, sniffin' the mornin'-cool,
I walks in my old brown gaiters along o' my old brown mule,
With seventy gunners be'ind me, an' never a beggar forgets
It's only the pick of the Army that handles the dear little pets - 'Tss! 'Tss!
