Greek and Korean 30-06 Ammo In The M1 Garand
« on: February 02, 2008, 06:52:12 PM »
Has anyone here shot any Greek or Korean 30-06 ball ammo in their M1 Garands?
If you have, did you try reloading it afterwords and how did that work for you?

Robert:  do not shoot the Korean 06 in your Garand.  There have been reports of Garands coming aprt after firing that stuff.  There was a warning about the Korean surplus ammo, on this site, within the past year.

I am not certain about the Greek ammo and do not recall warnings about that stuff.  I know that Greek 303 British ammo is pretty good stuff but haven't heard about the 30-06.

If you have Korean surplus ammo I would use it for components and not risk your Garand.  JMTCW.  Mikey.

Thanks for the response Mikey! I'll steer clear of the Korean ammo.
I was on the CMP site and noticed they sell the Greek surplus ammo,
so it couldn't be all that bad I guess. It's not corrosive and boxer
primed too.

The Greek ammo is great stuff!  I still have some of the 303 and a bunch of the 30/06.  Gotta get more before the .30 runs out!  Actually, I would buy the Greek before the LC ammo.

From what I hear, Mikey is right on re the Korean ammo.  It's certainly not worth it to my to buy some and find out.

Thanks for the reply AtlLaw,
I'm ordering a case real quick. Have you ordered the Greek ammo in bulk before?
On the CMP site they say to expect to have a few bad rounds out of the lot.
What has been your experience in this regard with the bulk Greek Ammo?
