I just thought I would share this.

This past Wednesday. Me and the guys were building the dormer of a house we are building. Someone said look out the window. I looked and saw what must have been at least 20 deer. They were just outside the window. No more than 20 yards. One of the guys said go get your gun. I did not have it at that time. The reason that he said said go get your gun is because during the summer I always have it with me for groundhogs. Besides deer are out of season now. The thing that blows me away is that this is a suburb of Pittsburgh. I still would have not shot any of those deer because I would have gone to jail and payed heavy fines. These guys tease me every year for carrying a rifle in my truck. They say I must be crazy to carry  a rifle in the front seat of my truck. My feeling towards this is it is not loaded and during the summer I hit the farms on my way home from work for groundhogs.  Dale

My son's flight into PIT came in around 11pm and since you can't sit in front of the airport any longer because of national security and I'm too cheap to go in the pay lot, I was sitting beside the road on one of the turn arounds in front of the airport. I'd gotten out of the truck and was standing beside it doing what old men do when they're standing beside their trucks after dark and looked over in the grass infield. It wasn't too much over an acre with cars zooming all around and airplanes over head and there was a dozen or more deer munching away.

My sister lives in a city near a city park. They have had to install a fence around their garden to keep most of the deer out. Deer will come into their yard overnight and remain laying under a pine tree until disturbed, on one hand it is cool to see, on the other it seems nature has gone wrong and the deer are not afraid of people

Nature hasn't gone wrong.  These critters are just smart enough to evolve in order to survive.  It's a shame more people haven't retained such abilities.
I live in the country so for me the oddity would be to get up in the morning and NOT see the deer, turkeys and whatever else in the yard. :)

It seems that wild animals have a sense of when they are in a benign and relatively safe environment.  While my wife and I were down in Laughlin staying at a very large hotel, a bobcat came strolling through the pool area.  He walked right past dozens of people and didn't even acknowledge their presence, let alone have any fear.

I guess that those deer cause a lot of damage when they get sucked into the Jet engines ;D ;)
