Holding Forend While Shooting?
« on: February 01, 2008, 11:25:24 AM »
Do many users of the Encore hold one hand under the foremd when shooting.  I find that I can get a better scope view supporting the forend and moving gun a little closer to my eye. The gun seems to balance better than using two hands on the grip.

Entirely shooter preference.   What works best for you and your style of shooting is your best hold.

I prefer to shoot one-handed with all my pistols, even the handcannons, but have no problem with a relaxed two-handed grip at the grip itself if I need more stability for longer shots.    In my case its more just help supporting the shooting hand from under the grip or at the wrist.   Putting the off hand out on the forend just doesn't feel good to me.   To each his own I guess.    ;)

Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

That's what I do when shooting off hand.

Two handed hold on the grip for me. I have found that I wobble when supporting the fore arm with my weak hand. Oh course, I always try to use a rest when ever possible IE my leg, boot, or a natural rest like a log or limb. Just my 2cts.

I shot my 15" encore 308 both ways but for accuracy I used both hands on the grip with a steady rest up front.

I put one hand under the forend when I'm shooting my .308. I'm much more steady and accurate that way. I thought i was the only one!

Lots of us hold the fore end. i use a bipod or rest when ever I can and often lay the fore end in my weak hand for "snap" shots. On big kickers I never try to hold on to the fore end, as this MAY cause damage to the gun.

I always hold the forearm on the Contender and Encore.  With the heavy rifle cartridges that is the only way I can keep them out of my face.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.
