RCBS Chargemaster 1500

Anyone on the forum have any experience with the RCBS Chargemaster 1500 and do you think it is worth the money?

 have one and love it. It definitely took my hand loading to a new level. I use it for rifle calibers exclusively. Not sure how it would do with light pistol loads.

Here's a good review by a former member. Midsouth usually has about the best price on it unless someone has it on sale, 6mmBr did a review on it a couple yrs back.

Any comparison here to the Lyman DPS3? I've been looking at both and was leaning towards the Lyman as it "appeared" to be a bit more versatile - I'm not a speed freak, just looking for a better way to get from A to B. Comments?

I've had mine for years and I love it!!!  Just buy the chargemaster, that lyman may be cheaper, but the RCBS is the safer way to go.

I've got a friend that has a Lyman. It works well,not as fast as the RCBS,but it is very accurate. It dosen't have the "auto" feature on it,but can be upgraded. Both work well. Ron

After reading many of the reviews and comments of other users on the board, I had Santa deliver one this year....

About all I can say, is....   Why did I wait so long!

After a quick learning curve on the calibration, I was up and running.  It has been dead on for anything I have thrown at it.

I suspect you will be very happy with it...

Purchased mine from the Board Sponsor "Midsouth".  They are a great company to deal with, but they sure can stay in my check book...

I have a DPS II that I upgraded with the $20 DPS III speed kit, it upped the fill speed with a larger fill tube and swapped out the powder tub so it's self cleaning, the two big complaints about the Lyman over the RCBS, making the Lyman as fast to use and easy to empty as the RCBS now. If the price of the RCBS 1500 was comparable to the Lyman DPS III, it would be a toss up as to which is better, but the Lyman sells for a bit less than the RCBS, sometimes quite a bit less, I got the Lyman for $200 shipped a couple yrs ago. The Lyman can also be interfaced with a PC, something I don't think the RCBS is capable of.  Some complain of the 30 minute warm up time required for the DPSII, don't know if the DPSIII has the same requirement, but Lyman says it's ok to just leave it on all the time, so that's what I do, mine's been on for about 15 months now, is ready to go when I am.  They both have the same 1yr warranty and both are made in China. As was said earlier, Midsouth has the best regular price on both of them.

THANKS for the shared info. I've been looking at them for a few years now. Will probably be a bit longer before "Santa" blesses me with either one.
