I’m just curious, why an FMJ in 204? I can’t think of a reason for one in my shooting habits but that doesn’t mean someone else can’t utilize one. :-\

I would think he probably wants to punch paper with them.      Dale

The .204 is made for varmits, and you want a lot of open metal for them, which is why they haven't made any.  I doubt anyone will, well, anytime soon, I dont think there is a big enough market for them.

Do I understand that you might like to use your 204 for deer? Hope not Dale

A full metal jacket small bore really wouldn't be a good choice for deer. If one was offerred, it would be  for pelt hunting. Small holes  save on sewing. Do you live in a state where you can use that small of a caliber? I know some states do allow 22 centerfires.  I live in the North and they don't allow smaller than 24 cal. A decent used deer rifle wouldn't be too hard to find or cost too much.
The whole point of the 204 isn't penetration. A big game bullet does need to penetrate. Yes you probably could drop a deer with a well placed shot from a perfect angle, but why take chances?

Believe it or not the only restriction for PA is it must be a centerfire round. What were they thinking when they wrote that rule.  Dale

It's crazy what they decide should and shouldn't be legal. In Minnesota 32-20 and 25 -20 are legal rounds. Not exactly powerhouses. The 256 winchester is not though. Again those little rounds are fine for harvesting deer in apple orchards. The key being harvest not hunting. I don't consider sitting on a step ladder and shooting der 30 feet away hunting. It is purely harvesting meat for the winter. Nothing wrong with it but it's not hunting

You better stick to killing cans. The 204 was never meant as a deer round. You would be foolish to want to shoot a deer with it Dale

I have to tell you that you have no morals. You owe it to the game you shoot to do a quick clean job. What you are going to do is injure deer and let it go on for days before it dies. The 204 was never meant as a deer round period and it makes me sick that you are such an ass that you would try to kill a deer with it and feel good that, that one got away. and that is what is going to happen. You might get lucky and kill one with the 204 but most likely you will just wound it. Dale
