Why two different styles of synthetic stocks for the encore?
« on: January 25, 2008, 08:02:17 AM »
I've noticed there are two different styles of synthetic stocks. Could the top one be a youth stock? I didn't think they made them in synthetic.

If this help's......I bought an Encore 5 years ago...With the black ss stock........I just had to have the camo......I ordered it from Cabelas...It was a T/C direct replacement...But it was 3/4" shorter....Which worked out good for me...But I had to readjust my scope's....T/C changed there stock supplier at that time ...and the only one available was the shorter version...I kept the black one  for future needs.....I wonder if this is what you are seeing???..............My bad....I just looked again and seen the radical difference around the pistol grip....Sorry

I think that they redesigned the stock a bit when they started chambering the big kickers in the gun-- .375 H&H, .416, 12ga slug, etc.  The first stock has quite a bit of drop to it, and it would smack your cheek in a rifle with stiff recoil.  The straighter stocks are more comfortable to shoot and they feel like they fit me better too.

Thanks kyelkhunter. That's a good explanation. It almost looks like it might have a shorter pull as well. The pull on mine is a bit long and I still need to add a Limbsaver pad which will add a bit also.

Limbsavers are great pads for reducing kick.  I had them on my .50 ML and my 30-06 Encores, as well as a really light Winchester 1300 turkey gun.  I really noticed the difference on the Winchester with 3" mag loads.
