bear hunting in w.va.
« on: April 19, 2008, 07:16:52 AM »
anyone on here bear hunt in w.va.?

recently saw where this past season they killed over 1800 bears there .

can't use bait and as i've found out you can't use lures either . there must be alot of bears for that many to be killed with still hunting /stalking and dogs only.

its a bargain as far as fees go atleast for me living in an adjioning state  , $174 for a non-resident .

I have land there in West Virginia, I see bear signs on my land all the time, but never actually seen a bear.
Yes you are correct, you cannot use bait, but I did not know you could not use a scent. I was thinking of trying to call for bear. I purchased a few different calls to see if I might be able to get one to come in this year.

Not a bad fee for us non-residents either.

i still find it odd that you can't use lures . mouth calls they said were ok but no electronic calls . i guess a person could make a campfire and accidently burn some bacon or spill some bacon grease into the fire .   hunting with dogs would be fun but i'm not sure my legs or body could take it. them hills are pretty steep down there.
