I have two Marlin Bolt actions a 882 in 22 Mag and a 917V in 17HMR the 22 mag has a slight taper to it but is every bit as heavy as the bull barrel on the 17.
They currently make a M25 that is blued and has a bull barrel.  Should be under 250 out the door.
I was looking at a catalog Monday at my local gun store in Corona debating what rifle to buy next and mount a scout scope on it.  Had a strange idea it will make a great small game rifle and want to prove I'm right.
