OLD ARMY and 30 Carbine Dropped?
« on: January 09, 2008, 08:06:56 AM »
I was looking at the on line catalog and see that all models of the Old Army and the 30 Carbine Blackhawk have been discontinued  >:(.  I'm glad I already own a 30  carbine BH, and the 5 1/2 Old Army with Ivory grips, both unique handguns.

If you've already got them why upset?  I never get this.  PPl get upset when a model is discontinued.  If they have it, hooray you've got one so no need to depend on the sued market to get one.  if you don't already have one, nobody to blame but yourself.  If it's so important to have one, enough so that it causes anger, then maybe it should've been a bit higher on the list of guns to buy.   At least over those NOT likely to be discontinued (i.e. popular models)

These two models, Can't imagine why.  The .30 carbine while a great combo in the BH just isn't a popular model.  Can't really say I see many folks owning and many shops stocking NEW Old Army model either.  Lots of used ones though.  I've got a .30 carbine BH and love it.  Very accuarte and although loud, it's a pussycat to shoot.  No Old Army here but I'm not fretting.  Not like they'll be truthfully laebled as "discontinued, rare" anytime soon.  A few dealers will try that tactic though.

Initial paragraph isn't directed at you Wild Weasel, just a genral rant.

I guess at the young old age of 46 I'm starting to get nostalgic.  Seeing favorite guns discontinued is almost as bad as the news at the end of the year where they do a montage of all the actors and such who have passed on.  And to add my rant, the gun magazines are crap to those published as little as ten years ago...

Very true on the magazines too.  they've all become nothing but advertising now, even the "tests" and written article are glorified ads.  That the reasons I dropped all my subscriptions.

The Old Army's are already going up, last year you could find a used blued for $200-$250 and the stainless for about $50 more and several  auction dealers were selling New in Box for $325-$350, now they're going used for the retail new price+.  I've seen a few used go for $450.  I'm glad I got mine in stainless for $300 including shipping.
