CelticCross - I would get a couple of these http://www.buy.cheaperthandirt.com/53725-34.html for the bases.  So far as I know that base is not available separately, but I think it would offer the best mounting flexibility among the limited choices of bases for the KP1.  I would go with some good QD rings for the ML and fixed rings for the .223.

Don't get too concerned at this point.  For one thing, many are perfectly happy with their KP1s and Knight customer service is hard to beat if you do encounter issues.   My BIG issue with the KP1 as a muzzleloader is blowback that gets into the action is difficult to remove.

I plan on shooting Blackhorn 209 and the plastic jackets out of the new kp1 so I'm not that concerned about blow back. I got some 250 grn speer fpj's I will load with the green hornady sabots. I make a post after I let some fly. Thanks for the info on the kp1 and the bases.

It seems things like that always happen at the most inopportune times.   Tough luck.   I'm hoping to get one of those new trigger assemblies as well ... and maybe a KP2.   ;)

Has your forearm developed any slippage or slight movement when installed?  Mine did and a small piece of electrical tape cured it.

These things do actually seem to happen at the least opertune time, you are correct. The good news is that they should have a new rifle for me before we go back to "primitive " arms so it could be worse, I guess. My origional forearm was so flimsy that It made mt Savage 16 look like a tight fit. LOL. I exchanged that out the last time that it went to the factory. It looka like they are working on the problems at the factory and I am sure that they will get the problems solved. Knight seems to react quickly to problems and as someone said, there Customer service is second to none. I will let you know when I get the new one in.
