Long Range Project?
« on: June 27, 2003, 04:08:21 AM »
I am looking at putting together a 1000yd. capable Encore rifle and want to know what you guys think of this.  I have about 300 rounds of 6mm Remington laying in the basement that got me thinking about the 6mm Remington Ackley Imp..  My thoughts are to get a bull barrel in this caliber that is about 30" long with a 1:7" twist.  This would allow me to shoot some of the VLD bullets available from Sierra and Lost River.  I would top it with a Weaver T36 scope.

Am I crazy? :gulp:

I also think it is a neat idea. After reading some long range/shooting forums, many seems to like a longer barrel. I guess it all depends on the individual. Keep us up to date with the project.

I have a 6mm AI in a 26" and love it. You might gain some in a 28", but a 30", I'm not sure. I built mine for light bullets, but wouldn't mind having another in a 1 in 7" also !! onesonek
