After M69 Bolt Mod Report
« on: January 26, 2008, 12:25:58 PM »
Hello,

On several gun boards it was asked that I keep everyone apprised of accuracy after doing the modifications to the bolt.  I’m pleased to report it likes pretty much any ammo now, allowing at least three to touch on a target.

I shot this target with singly loaded Remington Golden Bullet bulk.  The two fliers were shot when I felt I botched the let off or follow through, and the ones in the center were ones I knew I had.

This was shot at 50 yards, leaning over my truck’s hood.  No misfires with the ammo, and it seemed very consistent at 32°F.

Because I’m not overly good at target shooting, I took some “targets of opportunity” in the form of marker flags 50 yards out (my range.)  I aimed at the poles holding them in the ground, which were merely wire a bit thinner than coat hangers, and was able to hit with two or three out of five shots on each.

I’m very happy with this performance.  I may find a way to take up over travel without drilling – maybe rawhide wrapped around the rear of the trigger guard will work.  I’m open to ideas.
