Twist Rate need help please.
« on: January 27, 2008, 01:12:34 PM »
I have a Ultra Varmint in 223 with a fluted barrel. How can I find out what the twist rate is and how heavy of bullets can be reloaded for long range Prairie Dog shooting. Any help would be appreciated.

See the FAQs and Help sticky on twist rates, tells how to check it,  fluted 223s have been both, the only way to know for sure is check it unless it was made in 2007 since Marlin started making barrels, then it's a 1:9". What it will shoot well depends on the bullet, some 1:9" barrels shoot well with the right bullet up to 75grs, others won't shoot 60gr any better than 1:12" barrels.
