Midway USA 6.5 Swede Barrel Review
« on: January 28, 2008, 08:06:56 AM »
Well,  Midway USA finally received some more of the 6.5X55 Swede barrels in.

After receiving an email that they were in stock, I pulled the trigger and ordered one.

The barrel is a 26" standard Blue, with the T/C "Heavy Barrel" taper.

Mounting it to a "Pro Hunter" frame and installing a Simmons ATEC scope, off to the range I went.

The images below pretty much tell the story.  Just about everything I put down the tube landed in a 1" or less group.

Hornady 140 Interlocks were hovering right around .80 - .70 using IMR 4064.  I was real happy in how well the 120 Sierra's did.  I suspect that this will be my "Standard Load" for the little deer we have around here.

I will load up some 129 Hornadys and see how they fly....

Anyone thinking of getting one of these, I would say "Go For It"!  Sweet shooting, low recoil and will drop any Whitetail we have around here...

Thanks for the heads-up. I had one of the special-run 6.5x55 barrels (24") from a few years back and enjoyed it immensely. The addition of a custom forend and an oversized pin turned it into a tackdriver.

The barrel is still around and is being enjoyed by one of our country's Air Force members. Last I heard, it is shooting as well as ever.
