I found a place to get new soft lead.

Hey guys I  found a new place to get NEW soft lead. I got hosed on ebay and won't buy lead there again. I made a 50 pound order and it is good lead and the shipping on 50 pounds is free. Hear is a link look at the  1 lb NOTCHED Blocks 99.9%       Ron

$2.38 /lb to steep for me.if you add one pound of solder to 10 pounds of lead to make your alloy,405 grn cast bullets will cost you about $19.28/100 probably more i may have underestimated the cost of solder.not including gas checks or lube.might as well buy them already cast.junk price here in ny is at $.60/pound.i'm having a hard time spending that.best of luck to ya,adker

i wanted to check to make sure but there is a bullet maker i have bought from sells 250 pieces 405 grn lubed sized  pb bullets for $26. ships flat rate up to 64 lbs or whatever for $8.95.you might as well buy the bullets from him and melt them they would cost $95.20 for 50 lbs worth shipping included,already at #2 alloy.just using 45/70 as a reference.i have no idea what your shooting.just my 2 cents you can spend your money any way you like.later ,adker

I haven't bought any in a few years; but you might try lead roof flashing, it's very soft, if not pure lead.  My son worked as a roofer for a few years and I got a lot of tear off that made excellent round balls and conicals for b/p. The last time I actually bought some, it was around $3.50 for a large, which was over 4 lbs.

finding pure lead around here is tough. I can find stuff that is hard, and ebay has lead but you never know how hard it is. I am shooting a 459-405-HB Paper patched out of my 45 cal muzzleloader. I need them to be soft to get them down. The lead I got from ebay is just too hard to get them to go down good. They will go down but man it is a fight. I tried local plumbers and I got no where. Like I said finding soft lead is tough.  Ron
