308 Winny  44. grs. IMR 4895 with 150 gr. bullet.  Below max from Speer manual #13.  I use Hornady SST's. CCI 200 primer.  Shoots very well from every 308 I have ever tried it in.  1/2" @ 100 in my 7600 Rem.  1" in my daughters Stevens 200.  Same in my son's Stevens 200.  Have taken numerous deer with this load from 40-180 yds.  Most bang flop! Do not have a Handi in 308 but don't think you will be disappointed.  As usual start loads 10% below and work up.  Good shooting!
This is the day the Lord has made.  I choose to rejoice and be glad in it.

Don't load for the 308 so no help there , but my go to load for my 223 BB is 24.5 grains of IMR4895 under a 55 grain V-max , this load will shoot 1/2' @ 100 yards all day long if i do my part .The bullet is seated to a COL of 2.230 which is just over spec COL .

Another load that shoots very well is the 53 grain Sierra HP over 26.5 grains of BLC-2 at 2.202 COL , both with CCI small rifle primers .

I've had excellent accuracy in my H&R 308Win bull barrel with Varget and the 168gr TSX Match, data is online at Barnes'.  ;)

I would just clean them good and then shoot them. Might not need any bore paste...............

i always jb paste a new unfired barrel         good scrub with a brush and brake clean   then shooters choice  brushed and patched till clean  then hoppes oil  and re-oil at times  then with a snug oil soaked patch the jb paste  full even strokes chamber to muzzle with a muzzle guard   50 strokes    does not seem to remove any metal  just polish  it seems to aid in break-in
and after a real good cleaning  like before    JB is used to clean benchrest guns  if it hurt them they wouldn't be using it        I even do it to muzzleloaders

I shoot 24.5grs IMR 3031 with 50gr bullets in mine. I would try 4895 and BLC-2 since you have them, bet one of them will do fine.If not try the varget as many swear by it but I've never tried it.

No worry, all this was bought when it was $12-$14 for 40 or 50 rounds, but you can't even buy the good WWB any more, at any price!!

Indy ,

I havent got to the range with my 223 rifles yet after working up some reloads, though of all the data i have been compiling on reloading that cartridge ... I have constantly read and been told first hand that Varget loads tend to be very accurate for alot of folks ... So when i was buying up the last of my needed reloading components, I grabbed up two pounds of Varget  last trip to the Bass Pro Shop .. Will let you know my findings (be going to the range tomorrow) on my work ups in 68 gr, 69gr and 75 gr varget loadings (horandy and sierra bullets)
