Pistol Carry Case
« on: February 27, 2008, 06:19:06 PM »
Can someone point me to a hard carry case for my G2 pistol and barrels? I have two 14" and one 10" barrels that all have scopes. The ideal size would be 24" by 24" but I'm open on the size. The take down shotgun cases I've looked at are a bit too long and a bit too narrow.

Thanks for your consideration.

I have cases that were meant for carrying arrows.  I put foam in them and made cut-outs the shape of the frame and three barrels with scopes (cut-out for 14" barrels and put the 10" in that is what I want to take).  I have two and it is easy to get two frames and six barrels to the range.

Over the years there have been lots of cases offered that were either made especially for TC pistols or carbines, and others that work well with them.   So I have a lot of different cases, both hard side and soft cases for my TC's pistols (based on barrel length), and TC carbines/rifles.

For the hard cases, most for the 14"/15" barreled pistols were commonly called silhouette cases and made by several companies, but many of those dubbed as take-down shotgun cases also do work.    Many hard cases for generic use will handle the shorter barreled TC's plus extra barrels.   Depending on which case they'll hold 1, 2 or 3 fully assembled scoped TC pistols with room for an extra scoped barrel or two or 3.

The soft cases have been offered by TC themselves as well as a lot of other companies.   TC's offerings included a black leather case for a 10" octagon pistol along with 3 extra barrels, and the so called Indian blanket case that has room for 1 or 2 up to 14"/15" assembled pistols along with extra scoped barrel pockets.   Other companies have offered them as well.

I also have both hard and soft cases for assembled carbine/rifle TC's that have room - 1 or 2 extra compartments for extra scoped barrels.

Your best bet might be to lay what you want to carry in it out on a table and take some dimensions, then peruse the case makers web sites for dimensions to compare.   Keep in mind you probably will buy more barrels/frames, so sooner or later you'll want more case(s).

Doskocil, Pelican, Plano, Kalispel, MTM, SKB, TC, Boyt, Allen, Kolpin and Uncle Mikes are just some I can remember off the top of my head that have made cases that work well with TC's.   I have, or have had cases from all of them I used for TC's, along with a few custom and airline cases.

Finding a 24x24" might be alil tough. I have seen guys take a hard "suit case" and put foam in them. You might find one of that approximate size.
Here's one I use, it's a tight fit measuring 13x31 inside. But I don't think you would have a problem at all with your barrels. If you like I can track down the model #

onesonek - if it's not too much trouble I would appreciate the brand and model number of your case. It looks to be just what I want.

Thanks

I got a heck of a deal on a 25x13x6 case from Dicks. It was in a special section for paint ball guns. Good luck!

It's pretty good case for the money. It also has strapping inside which you may find useful. I don't use it however.

I use the Doskocil Accesory case it's about 27x14x 5 (?) and costs around 56 dollars. I put two bolt pistols or 14-15" Contenders in them (I have 2) and lock them for travel. I have a brown one for the TC's and a black one for the bolt guns.  What I like most is they do NOT look like shotgun cases. Just more like a large attache' case.
