took the wife's model 11 to the range today to run the first bunch of test handloads through it. 58 gr v-maxes over hodgdon varget. i have to say this gun is gonna be a shooter. gun only has 40 rounds through it so far, some factory federal 100gr powershoks and todays handloads. largest 5 shot group this gun has fired yet was 1.057 inches!! todays smallest was .517 inches but i think i can get that a bit smaller with some fine tuning of the load and when the barrel settles in. i was surprised with the light bullets and the 1:9.25 twist barrel. ive said it before and ill say it again, savage rifles just plain shoot, and the accutrigger is a godsend. guess now ill have to pick up one in 7mm-08 for myself.

Good shooting. However, you're preaching to the choir.
Shh! Lets keep it a secret between the Savage shooters. Others seem to think Savages and Stevens are butt ugly, junk throw aways that can't shoot. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but as long as they think that way, perhaps the general public won't catch on and the prices will be slow to climb.
Fun and jokes aside, that's great to hear about your wife's rifle. Continued good luck and enjoy the 7-08. If my experience with a 7-08 Stevens is typical of Savage manufactured rifles, you should not be disappointed.

Rber,
My son has an 11F package gun which is omnivorous with respect to the loads it gets fed. Prints nice tight groups with factory and handloads and it is a delight to carry in the woods. This was the first Savage we bought (for my son's first rifle since it was not too pricey and the synthetic stock is impervious to scraches) and I was a bit skeptical but since then I seem to carry it about as much as the boy does, I reckon I really should get one for myself as well but all of the other slots are filled in the cabinet (w/ Savages).
