Old service rifle can still shoot

 :)I dont usually toot my own horn and in this case I shall give credit to an old warhorse that still has what it takes.
The barrel was cleaned before I shot it. Perhaps that is why the first two shots went low left after that it settled in.

I was once loading for two coworkers, one with a Model 70 in .270 and the other with an 1878 Springfield with open sights and a trigger pull from hell.  Naturally, it was in .45-70.  They decided to shoot at some oil cans about 100 yards off, shooting offhand.  After the third round, the guy with the Model 70 got mad and put his gun in his car and went home.  He was not able to even hit close enough to a can for the dirt and rocks to knock the can down.  The guy with the Springfield hit each time he fired.  Old ain't bad, or I ain't the Oldtimer!

Those old '03 Springfield's are sweet! I hope the CMP gets some in the future. I want one!

I was on the CMP website earlier today and they have very little in stock. Some Garands and Carbines, that is about it.
With various companies recreating Garands and M14s for the civil market, why could not someone also reproduce the M1903 and Krag rifles?

Money pure and simple!

The cost or making the rifles as they were is too much it seems. Why I don't know because Pedersoli can make re-creations of the old rifles like the Sharp, Rolling Block and the High Wall to why cannot they make something like the Springfield 03? Unless it's some thing to do with the import restrictions on rifles like the 03!
