Definatly not the 9MM and the .40 was developed to over come the the short comings of the 10MM (heavy recoil) so, at least in my opinion, I'd pick a .45 ACP?

Most special forces and anybody else in the military that can get their hands on one has gone back to the 45 acp. Bigger is better! I own 1 9mm, a Browning Hi-Power (it's a classic). I have never owned a 40 cal. (I've shot a lot of em) and probably never will. The ol 45 acp has been around forever and there's a reason for it. IT WORKS!!! I'm a die-hard 1911 guy and own several, but I bought a Springfield 45 XD a while back, and I'm here to tell you, 14 rounds of 45 acp is hard to beat.

John R., my only problem with the double stack magazines is they feel like a banana in my hand (Too wide). I prefer single stack guns and in .45ACP.

I agree that most of them do, but the XD feels a lot like a Hi-Power. They did a good job on the shape of the grip.
