Black powder adapter
« on: February 08, 2008, 02:48:16 AM »
A year or so ago I stumbled acrossed A web page that had a a modified breech plug for an encore that used a primed case and the black powder/pyrodex was loaded into the primed case and inserted into the breech plug and a bullet was loaded through the barrel. Has anyone else seen this?

::) I am not too sure it would be legal in most states as a BLACK POWDER rifle  seeing as the bullet is the only thing that does go down the barrel--- Why not just purchase a Encore 209-50 Muzzle loader barrel a enjoy the full fun of the rifle??? :D :D :D

I remember seeing a little bit about one.  As I remember it was called "center fire muzzleoading" or "cartridge muzzleoading", something like that.  I do know that some people have just muzzleloaded their centerfire rifles.  I believe that may have been a target shooting technique in the past.  I know some states have regulations against "muzzleloaders" that will accept a cartridge.

I am pretty sure that the case is just used to hold the primer and not powder of any sort.  If you go to the modern muzzleloader forum I believe that there is a topic at the top regarding the modified breech plugs.  With 777 some people are having problems with a crud ring developing just about the the powder change.  Many have reported that the lower intensity of the small rifle or pistol primer reduces the crud ring and improves accuracy.  This modification is popular on the encore muzzleloaders.

PR Bullet makes a 25 ACP breech plug for the Encore, but there's no powder in the primed case.
