Have anybody tried Hornady 139 grain sp light mag in 7mm-08 Rem? What kind of bullet in 7mm-08 you using on deer?

At one time or another I have tried these on deer. Sierra 120 gr. flat base, Speer 130 gr. flat base, Nosler 140 gr. bal. Tip., Nosler 140 gr. Partition, Hornady 139 gr. Interbond, Rem. 140 Core-loc, and at the present time I,m using Nosler 140 gr. Accubond. They will all work if you put them in the right place, but I have come to the conclusion that the 140 gr. bullet is the best choice for the 7mm/08. Oh by the way i've been shooting this cartridge since 1983, and it's my favorite whitetail cartridge.

I acquired a 7mm08 last year and hunted with it exclusively all year.  I took a nice Idaho buck with a straight on shot.  I think it was with the Hornaday light magnum.  I took several doe deer in NC with Sierra and Barnes 140 grain bullets.  All shots were in the 100-225 yd range.  I use the same bullets I load in 7mm mag and 280.  I have some 120 gr Ballistic tips that I may try.

I load 140gr Rem Core-Lokts. I've taken two deer with them.

For factory ammo the Win.140 gr. power point super-x shot best from my rifle.Taken two fair sized hogs with these.Handloads are 160 gr. Speer bought in bulk from Midway.Havn't tried these on meat yet.

I have had the best success on accuracy and plain out stopping power with the speer 130gr sp. on top of hodgens varget. I've shot them head on,quartering to and away,and broadside. This bullet works.......

Yup that's the only load I use for my 7-08s these days. It shoots sub MOA in all rifles I've tried it in so far and drops the deer very effectively. For deer size game I've found nothing that works better.

I've shot just about every cup and core 140gr bullet (plus the 139) they make thru a 7-08.  They all work good. Trying to pick the one that's the most accurate is the hard part.

COOL! I will buy few different kind of bullets to the range see what rifle has a preference. I really hoping that 7mm-08 can handle on those heavy bodies northern buck. I hunt deer in far north of Wisconsin those deer can be 250 pound.

You won't have any problems on 250 lb. deer, especially with the bonded core bullets. (Interbond, Accubond, Scirroco, Barnes, etc.)

At 7-08 speeds any regular game bullet will work fine.  Just stay away from varmite or match bullets.

If the 7-08 duplicates or betters the ole 7mm Mauser then a 250lbs Whitetail is not going to be much problem if the bullet is placed in the right spot  Whilst it didn't weigh 250lbs the Northern Missouri Buck I shot with a 139 BTSP Hornady bullet out of my 7mm Mauser chamered rifle dropped him quickly and he was a fair sized beastie  . The 7mm Mauser made it's sporting name in Africa and India, Jim Corbett used it to shoot man eaters in India and of course Bell used it on Elephants in Africa. I have heard good things about the 7-08 but have no experience with it myself. Didn't see the need with a good modern 7x57 rifle.
